He also leaves extended family members in Italy, Australia, and the United States. He also leaves a great-granddaughter, Nola Mae MacFarland, of Shelburne, VT a sister, Carmelina Curro of Naples, FL and two special cousins, Lena Noto and Teresa Musacchio, both of Pittsfield. He leaves his daughter, Josephine MacFarland and her husband, Keith, of Westfield, MA his son Michael Noto of Pittsfield his grandson Ian MacFarland and his wife, Cheray of Shelburne, VT. He enjoyed dinners and holidays with his family and taking long walks with his grandson. Guy also enjoyed planting a garden every summer with his son, Michael. His faith and his positive outlook no doubt served as the template for a long, happy life. He was a devout Catholic with unwavering faith, which held him in good stead throughout his life. Upon the closure, Guy became a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield. He was very active in the parish, serving on the Parish Council and working Bingo and lawn parties. Carmel Church, Guy served as an usher at the 10:30 Mass every Sunday. He was a long-time communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittsfield until its ultimate closing by the Diocese of Springfield. He was also a life-long member of the ITAM Lodge in Pittsfield, until its recent closing. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at the GE. After the war, Guy was employed by the General Electric Company of Pittsfield, working in the Power Transformer Division and ultimately became an inspector in the Distribution Transformer Regulator Division of General Electric in Pittsfield. They settled again in Pittsfield and raised their family. He married his beloved wife, Immacolata, in 1949, in Italy. He survived sweltering jungles and months-long monsoons until the end of the war in the Pacific in August 1945. His unit was responsible for the building of the Burma and Ledo Roads in the China-Burma-India theatre. A member of the Greatest Generation, Guy served in the United States Army, 115th Ordnance Company, as a Tech Sergeant, during World War II. Guy was educated in the Italian schools and then in the Pittsfield Public Schools, graduating from the Carpentry Program at Pittsfield High School. He moved to the United Stated in 1935 with his family, settling in Pittsfield, MA. He was the son of Giuseppe Noto and Vita (Bovalino) Noto. He was born on February 24, 1922, in the town of Molochio, Provincia di Reggio Calabria, Italy. PITTSFIELD – Guy Noto, age 100, passed away peacefully at Berkshire Medical Center, with his children by his side.
